Salah Signs New Contract!
It’s been a long time coming, most of us had given up hope of him staying beyond next season, but it finally happened.
The club today revealed Mo Salah had signed a new contract with a flash reveal video from his holiday in Mauritius (Where he’s been with his family and Gini Wijnaldum’s family…interesting, no?).
A reported £350K-a-week falls short of the reported £400k demands Salah was said to be demanding early in his contract. Nevertheless, this pay rise makes him the highest earner in Liverpool’s history.
His goal and assist return has been outstanding since his arrival, placing him in the world football royalty (After all, isn’;t that where the King should be?), putting him in Ballon D’or contention, and, once again, winning the Premier League Golden boot last season.
Few Liverpool fans would begrudge him such a lucrative deal. Indeed, before having a dip in form post-AFCON, a Liverpool fan who wouldn’t have given Salah whatever he wanted, if they’d been issuing the contract, was, as the saying goes, as rare as rocking horse s***.
Committing Salah to a contract until 2025 guarantees the club either the best years of his career, or should he go sooner, a hefty transfer fee. Not bad, whatever way you look at it.
It’s still early in the summer transfer window, but we’ve had the highs of Carvalho, Nunez and Ramsey coming in, the disappointment of Mane, Minamino and Origi leaving, and now our most prolific striker has decided to stay.
This summer is one hell of a rollercoaster!
